We selected this Ortiz location in Williamsburg for its location, size and low cost. It would have been better to pay more and have a viewing with dignity for our loved one. There was mismanagement with the arrangements from the beginning. Ortiz did not contact our church to let them know we were booked for a 10am mass until we went in person to the church to confirm. Ortiz was confused with an earlier funeral mass they scheduled for the same morning as ours at 9am. On the eve before the viewing we received a call from the funeral home telling us that we should consider a closed casket because they were having a hard time putting make up on our loved one. I don't understand why since there was nothing wrong with our deceased relative's face when he passed away. Turns out the funeral had sprayed something black on his head to give the appearance of hair. Our loved one was a proud bald man and everyone knew him that way. His lips looked horrible and makeup color was completely off. It was a very hot day and the black paint dripped down the side of his face. At the last minute we had to scramble for a huge photo to display since there was no way we were going to have an open casket. That was a major insult and disrespect to our family and friends. I suspect that whoever attempted the makeup does not have training or a license. The morning of the funeral mass we were rushed out of Ortiz only to arrive at the church while the mass for the earlier deceased person was midway through. It was so awkward and we did not have a choice but to block in the cars from the earlier mass. We were also rushed after our mass and at the burial site. Speaking of burial sites, Ortiz tried to steer us toward a cemetery that looked horrible and unkept. Oh, and they do not provide limousines for the family. If a dignified send off is important for your loved one, go somewhere else.

I would never recommend this place to anyone. They poorly organized, the place is old and falling apart and smells. They didn't make up my daughter's grandma face at all. Same way they took her out of the fridge they just put her in the casket.This place looks spooky and needs to shut down.

Terrible communication. Unprofessional. Rude. I honestly wouldn’t bury a stray animal here. If you care about your loved one I highly suggest to keep scrolling and go elsewhere! Mirian should find a job where she doesn’t have to speak to anyone.
