I have been a patient of Suburban Women’s Medicine and never had any significant concerns until I was faced with an actual medical issue that required timely care and communication. Unfortunately, my experience during this situation was extremely disappointing.
Given my family history and the circumstances surrounding my care, I expected compassion, urgency, and professionalism. Instead I felt like I was being treated as a bother rather than a patient seeking answers and assistance.
Because the practice does not offer a patient portal, I requested a copy of my medical records. Reaching the records department was incredibly difficult. Amanda in the records department repeatedly did not answer or return my phone calls. Every time I called from my own phone number, I was sent to voicemail. After multiple unsuccessful attempts, I had to physically go to the office to complete a records release form because I could not get a response.
When I arrived, I explained to the receptionist that I simply wanted a copy of my records and had been unable to reach anyone in the records department. Amanda was asked to come out and assist me. The interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational, and she approached the situation with an attitude. I completed the form, clearly writing “self” as the recipient and checking the box indicating that I was NOT leaving the practice. To avoid the situation escalating, I left. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was that these interactions occurred in front of a waiting room full of patients.
Later, my mother called the office on my behalf. Amanda answered immediately on the first ring, but once she realized the call was regarding me, the same dismissive attitude was present. Amanda told my mom that my surgery was canceled.
By Monday, I had to call the office myself to find out what was happening with a procedure that was scheduled for the following morning.
Most concerning was being told that Dr. Allen had canceled my surgery because she believed I was seeking a second opinion. This was confusing considering my records release form explicitly stated that I was requesting records for myself and that I was not leaving the practice.
After nearly a week of trying to obtain my own medical records, I again called Amanda to request paper copies. Two consecutive calls from my phone went unanswered. When I borrowed a friend’s phone and called, the call was answered immediately. I was finally able to obtain my records.
I understand that medical offices are busy and that misunderstandings can happen. However, patients deserve clear communication. That includes timely responses, professionalism, and respect.. especially when dealing with serious health concerns. Unfortunately, this month long experience has made my decision easy: I will not be returning to this practice or recommending it to others. Instead, I will encourage my family, friends, and anyone who reads this review to seek a healthcare team that truly values compassion, clear communication, and patient-centered care. Every patient deserves to feel heard, respected, and supported.

The doctors here are extremely dismissive, particularly for menopausal patients. For years, I asked for help, a blood test anything to figure out why things were so out of whack and the response on more than one occasion was - why bother? Doesn't matter- everyone goes through it. Thankfully they now have an RN dedicated to treating women with menopause. If it wasn't for her, I absolutely would have left. Funny enough, now that I'm being treated- the last time I saw the Dr she offered a medication to help with my hormones... where was this offer over the last 7 years?

I have not been to this practice in awhile, but it has recently come to light just how much my experience has negatively impacted me.
1. After getting my bloodwork done, the nurses told me that I had PCOS over the phone 2. When discussing my A1C levels (keeping in mind that insulin resistance is part of PCOS) Dr. Allen was VERY condensending. 3. She asked when the last time I had a regular period was, I told her I could not remember ever having one. Her immediate, and only, advice was to go back to that weight. She gave no guidance on how to weigh the same that I did at a time that never existed.
A month or two later I went to a different practice and was fortunate enough to have a doctor who actually cared. The other practice listened to me and sent me for an ultrasound where it was found I had an ovarian cyst the size of a grapefruit that required surgery to remove, where they also needed to remove one of my fallopian tube. While I realize I can't place sole blame here, I can't help but wonder how my health and fertility journey would be different if I had been listened to at this practice (though I am very glad I found somewhere better).

This place is great if you have very average, normal needs from an obgyn. Other than that, don’t waste your time here. I’ve been struggling with PMDD that has worsened over the last 2 years, to the point where hospitalization becomes an option every month. I have a mood disorder that is very well controlled outside of the week and a half before a period, yet they refuse to do anything beyond a basic hormone panel, which of course came back normal, so I was told this isn’t our problem, this is psych. As I said before, my “psych” issues a very well controlled. They won’t return my psych teams calls to work on this together. When your patient calls with suicidal thoughts due to hormones during the Luteal phase, and all you can say is oops sorry not our problem, it’s disgusting and vile. I do not feel like I’ve been treated with dignity as far as this goes. If you have similar issues, this isn’t the place to be taken seriously, AT ALL.

I have been seeing Dr. Strollo for several years now and recommend her and this practice to everyone I know. She has made me feel heard, understood, and cared for at every appointment. I look forward to seeing her each and every time! Recently, I also had an infusion done at the office and it was a fantastic experience! Annie McGorry did a wonderful job making sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. It was so convenient to be able to come right into the office instead of going elsewhere! I would recommended Suburban Women’s Healthcare to everyone!

I have been a patient of Dr Fraas for over 30 years. She has delivered both my girls via C-sections and I absolutely adore her. She always makes me feel heard and she answers all my questions and doesn’t make me feel rushed. I can’t honestly understand some of these negative reviews because I have never witnessed any unprofessionalism from anyone in the office. They are all very nice and helpful. I always recommend them.
