We’ve been going to Shear Madness in Amherst for 3 years now, for my son’s first haircut experience which went smoothly! And also for our daughter’s hair cuts. They’ve always been very kind and patient with my kids and everyone there. Their online system could use a little work, since sometimes it crashes and makes booking a little difficult. Other than that, definitely recommend this place!

I have been taking my son to Shear Madness for about 8 months now. He absolutely HATES getting his haircut, but Saba is so patient with him and does an amazing job. I always fell bad for her having to listen to him scream/crying, but she is always so kind. I like that there are fun cars for the kids to sit in and a kids show playing, although my son doesn't appreciate this yet (hoping he will in the future).

My son Vito struggles to communicate, he fell asleep on the way and of course we were late… AMY let none of that bother her she handled a screaming baby Vitz with grace, professionalism and class !!!!! We are beyond grateful for her and the crew. Thanks again Amy!!!!

I don't recommend this place. The woman who cut my children's hair damaged their hair. My daughter had very long hair, and they damaged it. I had to style my daughter's hair myself at home to fix the haircut they gave her. I was so frustrated. Around $50 dollars thrown away

I really hate leaving negative Google reviews, but after 3 phone calls and an email by my husband to reach the manager to rectify this situation and still no contact back, I feel it necessary to post and warn other parents.
We brought my daughter in Saturday for her first haircut. She is not even 2, and was a little anxious. We had an appointment scheduled with Michelle. We picked our chair and the hairdresser put the cape on my daughter. She has sensory issues and absolutely started sobbing, trying to pull it off. The hairdresser turned to her after a minute or two of watching her tugging at it around her neck crying while I tried to settle her down and said “it’s only going to get tighter if you do that”. Ma’am she isn’t even 2…that logic isn’t going to work. We finally just took it off because truly I didn’t care if she’s covered in hair.
The haircut initially was going OK, I told her just a trim and while she was taking a bit more inches than I hoped, I knew my daughter had a lot of dead ends so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. My daughter had calmed down, a little tear and whine here and there but we set up a iPad for her to watch frozen, so she wasn’t moving, just whimpering. Frequently she’d ask my daughter “are you done yet” anytime she’d cry a little louder. Then, she decided to cut my daughter bangs without asking. At this point there is nothing that can be done - the hair is already cut.
She finished the haircut in maybe 5 minutes, which I know is the point. She blew dry my daughter’s hair which started her crying again due to her sensory issues. She said again to my daughter alright are we done, we’re done. Then she just walked away to clean another station. My husband and I stood there for a few minutes before she looked at us and said “you’re done”. My husband quickly paid while I tried to calm my daughter down so I could look at her hair. Once she finally let me I could see it was completely butchered. Different lengths all off and horrible side bangs we didn’t ask for. I could have tolerated the rather rude behavior of Michelle if the haircut was good but it is terrible. The only reason we were getting a cut now was because my daughter is supposed to be a flower girl in a wedding so I wanted her hair nicely trimmed and now I’m embarrassed for her and trying to find ways to hide it.

I have been taking my son to Shear Madness on Sheridan now for two years and every time we go we have a great experience. My four year old feels comfortable, confident and even excited to get his haircut everytime we go. His haircut always comes out looking great! I have recommended Shear Madness to neighbors and friends with kids of all ages. Great place- highly recommend!
