This place is the best. Amazing group of people, such a large wealth of knowledge in one place. I am there very frequently. The membership base here all have specialties they are skilled in and also so many awesome hobbiests.

Syn Shop is really good for electronics, 3D printing, CNC work and of course the wonderful laser cutter. The people are approachable, though there is the normal amount of aspy geeky awkwardness one would expect from any makerspace. I wouldn't recommend Syn Shop if you are doing wood working exclusively. Takes too much time to get it as dust free as they like and the tools are not super good anyway other than the AMAZING CNC machine.

I'm familiar with communal hackspaces in LA and the Bay Area, but never expected to find one in Vegas. I got a brief tour of the shop in conjunction with a planning meeting for the Las Vegas Science & Tech Festival. A great way to check out the space is through their meetup.com/synshop events and classes, many of which are open to non-members and any fees are very reasonable. Events/classes range from security hack sessions to lock picking to open craft nights. Equipment-wise they have an e-shop, 3D printers, CNC router, sewing machine, and carpentry shop. The other nice thing is that their shop hours caters to people with M-F, 9-5 work schedules.
