We had been coming here for about 4-5 years and they were good for regular cleaning and exams, until we needed procedures done. They wanted to charge over $405 for a scan for my husband before they did a procedure, and they said that insurance doesn't cover that scan. I called a specialist, and our insurance covered that same scan at 100% at the specialists office. They wanted to charge me $91 for a different procedure that I got done today at a nearby location for $64. Sounds like they're trying to make more money out of their patients and dont care to try to save us money with our dental insurance. All it took was a referral out to a specialist to save my husband over $400, but they never mentioned that as an option. My advice is to do your research, know your insurance coverage, and call different locations and specialists before committing to get things done here. You will likely be paying extra if you do more than just routine exams here. Because of this, and their lack of transparency, we chose to transfer to Sunland Dental where they do great work and aren't trying to just make more money off of their patients.

    Updated to address their response:
Yes, we were referred to a specialist, and all of this was explained thoroughly and understood. Bottom line was that we did NOT have to pay $405 for this exam, and this is their expertise (Endodontist). Im glad that our new dentist gave us this referral as an option. As mentioned above, this office didn't even attempt to work with us, or give us options. Questioning my understanding about it is not a humble way for a business to respond. Simply wishing us the best would have sufficed. Hopefully others see the review and go well prepared with an understanding of their coverage. The small savings for my procedure was no big deal, but saving $400 for the scan that my husband needed is a pretty big number that we avoided paying altogether by getting another opinion, while simultaneously receiving the same standard of care.

    The worst clinic intolerant dentist.
I require a service dog. Made an appointment and when I arrived I was told I could not bring my dog inside that the dentist would not see me with my dog.
I understand she is Muslim but she is a very intolerant person.

This is by far one of the most amazing dental offices I’ve ever been to.

I live in New York but had been out of town and ended up having a medical emergency that flared my TMJ pain. This was extremely stressful because being in so much pain and so far away from home was scary. However, I had been referred to Dr. Noha Oushy at Santa Teresa Smiles and my goodness she was incredible.

Despite having a full schedule and me being a new (out of state) patient, everyone there was extremely empathic to my situation and squeezed me in immediately. They did a full work up, including scans as well as a sleep study that I could take home and then have them send me the results.

Not only was my exam extremely thorough, Dr. Oushy spent time explaining everything to me and was very patient with my questions. She was so so kind and as someone who deals with anxiety, that makes such a difference in my ability to feel comfortable with a provider. She even fit me in for another appointment a few days later before my flight back to New York.

She also has so much expertise. Many doctors I see are very specific to their one field but she looked at my case holistically, including not only the physical/medical aspects of my issue but also how mental health and overall lifestyle play a role in things. She was able to recommend various things I could do to hopefully work toward healing. During my appointments with her, she did several treatments including photobiomodulation and PRP. She was able to relieve my pain flare so that I could survive my long trip back home.

Even after being back in New York, she continues to stay in contact with me checking in, recommending treatments and even other providers I might like to check out.

TL;DR: Overall, Dr. Oushy and everyone at Santa Teresa Smiles are incredible. You can tell they love and care about what they do. I was a new, out-of-state patient dealing with bad pain and they were prompt in fitting me in as best they could despite their heavy patient load. I had multiple appointments before my trip back home. It’s a beautiful office with great technology. Dr. Oushy utilizes a diverse, holistic approach and has extensive expertise. If I lived in New Mexico, I would love to have this place be my regular dentist because they make it a pleasure to be there.

I WISH I had taken my daughter to Dr. Oushy sooner, but I'm so glad I finally made it. First visit was 3 hours long (they're not all that long), but it was worth every minute. I know of at least 5+ people who will be going to her, now that I've told them about her. I'm not a fan of conventional dentistry AT ALL, but I love Dr. Oushy.
