UPDATE: After a couple issues with my previous frames—sliding down my nose and rubbing the bridge raw in hot weather—Paul showed me a Flexon frame that could be fitted with silicon nose pads. Problems solved! Love my new frames!

UPDATE #2: Those Flexon frames have needed a couple tuneups recently, and I got the backup optician, Loli Valenzuela. She did not disappoint. I got a perfect fit with my tricky trifocals both times. I hope Paul doesn’t retire any time soon, but I feel good about his colleague.

UPDATE #3: My Flexon frames were behaving badly, the same lens falling out yet again. Paul fixed both lenses with a special adhesive to secure the temperamental screws. “You may have to come back for something else,” Paul assured me, “but it won’t be for this.” And the special adhesive will allow the lenses to be removed when they really need to be, like new lenses in my same trusty frame.“
