I tried to sign up for a one-hour private driving lesson. They took my money immediately then said I had to schedule it on their website. The website never allowed me to schedule a lesson. I called numerous times for a refund and was given a different excuse every time, always promising someone would call me, and of course they never did. Fought it through my bank instead.

What was once a place known all over Albuquerque, is now a grave disappointment (I recommend Old School of Driving or Jenkins Driver's Ed). Save yourself money and a headache. Recently my daughter was going thru Driver's Ed and her grandparents wanted to surprise her by paying for the classes. First obstacle with McGinnis was getting all her hours in. I understand that with COVID it complicated everything, so we were attempting to be very patient and go with their flow. After being shut down (not their fault), they would only let kids fill driving slots online. I understand that COVID caused a lot of restrictions, but using a telephone was not one of them. :/ So, needless to say it was very frustrating waiting for an email that a slot was open and then attempting and failing for months to get one hour of driving scheduled (I know the struggle was not just us, because she had friends and family also enrolled at that time, having the same problems). Next rule, you can not schedule multiple driving slots (even if there are spots available). Slowly and painfully we scheduled and knocked out one driving hour at a time, taking months to complete. The next surprise was my daughter was informed that the class did not include the driving test. Seeing as how her grandparents signed her up for the class and my son had completed Driver's Ed the previous year (thru a different school), I did not know about this until towards the end (my daughter's grandparents were also surprised to find out this was the case for the multiple children they recently paid for). Next headache, I'm sure might have been my daughter's misunderstanding. It was her understanding that she could not schedule and pay for her driver's test until she completed all her hours. With the way everything had been going, I did not question this since we could only schedule one hour of driving at a time. Immediately after her last hour, she attempted to schedule and pay for her test. She was then told that they could not schedule her test because she was no longer a student after completing her last hour and she should have scheduled it before her final hour. Patience tested, not reciprocated and now all gone. :( We then CALLED Jenkins Driver's Ed and they were able to schedule her driving test the very next day (even though she had never been a student there)! The previous year my son had attended Old School of Driving with a seamless positive experience. We have also informed all my daughter's friends who are about to take Driver's Ed to steer clear of this horrible experience, instead save yourself from a headache and go with Jenkins or Old School of Driving :)
