We are very impressed with La Cueva. We have five dogs. We are preparing to retire in Portugal. They all have been great helping us to get all five of our dogs prepared for the move.
Our dogs have some chronic conditions; such as thyroid, incontinence, mass cell, they also discovered a detaching lense. We just discovered that one dog has a tooth that is shearing and we will be returning for dental.
We have a blended pack that demonstrate behavior issues, such as a 60 lb jumper, a 17 pound snapper, and a 13 pound wiggler who only wants his mom.

Attentive, knowledgeable, reasonably priced. Most appreciated: runs like a well-oiled machine with prompt email updates about records and upcoming appointments and no wait times for scheduled appointments (whereas at my previous vets I often waited 30+ minutes past a scheduled appointment time - which can be difficult for a dog!). My dog has never been so relaxed after his vet visits (see attached photo)
I am so impressed and so grateful with the entire staff at this animal hospital. Having relocated to Albuquerque three years ago I found it very difficult to find a new vet. And then I really had to find a vet when I realized one of my cats was having an issue with his mouth and his teeth. After a lot of research and calling a lot of animal hospitals I finally settled on La cueva. On our first visit, I was impressed that the exam room had some ambience soothing music, they used a spray to calm the cat, and every nuance of the room and the exam was for the comfort of the animal and owner. After that first visit I scheduled a follow-up surgery for my cat to have his teeth cleaned and or removed. Unfortunately, due to extreme . Dental disease my poor little 6-year-old boy had to have all of his teeth removed 2 days ago. Going through something like this can be very stressful. My cat also has a heart murmur and so when we arrived at the animal hospital I was told he was the only surgery for the day and that there would be two techs overseeing his care along with the veterinarian performing the surgery. Post surgery they sent me home with everything I needed to care for my little boy including syringes with prepared doses of pain meds and anti-inflammatories. They gave him a two week dose shot of antibiotics so I didn't need to worry about that. It's been two days now and I see an extreme difference in my little one. He is recovering very well and is already looking much happier and healthier. I am so grateful for Dr Kim and her staff. I have three other cats that I will be bringing here.
