I came in with a very unusual request — I needed help taking body measurements for a traditional dress being made abroad for my wedding. I live alone and didn’t have anyone available to help, so I called to see if they offered this kind of service. Without hesitation, they told me to come in.

When I arrived, they welcomed me warmly and made me feel so comfortable. She kindly helped me video call my tailor overseas and followed his instructions step by step, taking the exact measurements he needed and reading them out for him. She was patient and sweet.

At the end, when I went to pay, she refused to take any money — she did it as a pure act of kindness. I insisted, but she wouldn’t let me. I was so touched. This dress is for my traditional wedding back home in Africa, so her kindness means more to me than words can say.

“I just moved from the LES and the laundromats there are always packed. I walked in here midafternoon on a Wed and the place was almost empty. I was surprised that they no longer took quarters and I had brought $25 worth with me, but the attendant (luckily) exchanged it for me and showed me how to use the card machine. Apparently you can also pay right off your debit and credit cards. There are a couple bars nearby too that may come in handy. This is definitely the best laundromat I've ever been to. It's clean, there's a bathroom, and the machines are new. A little pricey but its worth it. ??“
