There is a cabinet just underneath the pipe in the basement and very close to the pipe. Wires very near too. The pipe is partially cast iron. He replaced the copper pipe that was attached to the cast iron pipe. It had been leaking during the winter. Our home is 100 years old. Had called other local plumbers. They wouldn't take the job.
