I am a 40-year-old female beginner who started kendo. Kendo is a very charming and unique martial art. I am very lucky to start my kendo career at GSK. Because there are many excellent teachers and members at different levels here. There is a lot of passion and sincerity for kendo here. I hope many women will come and practice kendo together.

GSK is a phenomenal dojo that I have been calling home for many years now. First, Lee sensei, the head instructor, is an incredibly nice and wonderful man with years of experience and promotes a healthy culture at the dojo, and he is one of the handful of 7th dan ranks in the USA. The culture here is welcoming, open and non-judgmental, and we all work hard to improve our own and each other's kendo. When a dojo member is going through a hard time, we get together as a dojo to support them as much as possible. I am not a student of this dojo, but have know Lee sensei for many years, and have seen their students excel at tournaments. Not only are results great, but when I witness the relationship between the sensei and his students, its a no brainer that this dojo is doing a great job. I highly recommend this dojo to anyone in the Palisade Park area, and I am very jealous of the students at Garden State Kendo.
