“I mean no disrespect but when I moved to NJ from Queens I tried every barbershop in Nutley/clifton/arlington/lyndhurst over the last 5 years and this was the only spot that can cut a proper rocknroll pomp on a white dude. That’s probably the most iconic men’s haircut of the last 100 years (think Ricky Ricardo, Elvis Presley, James Dean, David Beckham, Travolta, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, etc) and most of them haven’t even heard of it. Last time I was in there though the younger Latino gentleman said he didn’t even know what a pompadour was so I had to get outta his chair and wait for the old Italian barber in his 70’s (80’s?) to chop it up correct but it was WORTH THE WAIT. Flawless. No one else knows how to do a decent pomp in northern NJ.
Im not saying everyone should know this cut but any good American barber worth his salt should know ALL styles for all kinds of people of all ages but 90% of these kids have no clue how to do anything but fades and mops. A lot of them can’t even do a simple cut without clippers anymore. Clippers make this cut look horrible. These kids need to learn how to use scissors. I know I sound like an old man but that’s cause I am lol - anyway I love Mario’s for this cut & I won’t go anywhere else now“

“Took my kiddo as a walk-in. He was seen right away. The young lady doing his hair was great! My son RARELY lets anyone touch his hair; last time he allowed someone was about 3-4 years ago, and he would allow me since then to trim it here and there. My son wanted to cut his hair after all this time, and she cut his hair quite nicely. Highly recommend. They accept card, but there is a small reasonable fee fyi.“
