Recommendation for Davey Tree, Westchester County NY Division
In August 2025 I engaged the local division of Davey Tree to eradicate a large stand of bamboo on our property in a townhouse cluster community called Walden Wood in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
The bamboo stand touched the back ends of three immediate neighbors, plus the back ends of about eight others running down a steep hill to a driveway where our property ends. The bamboo growth covered about a half-acre. Because of the cluster of homes in a wide oval, I had no direct access for heavy equipment to be brought on to our property. The owner of the driveway below allowed an entrance of heavy equipment by using his driveway.
On August 25, the Davey Tree crew arrived early morning, worked all day, cutting down all of the bamboo. They worked quickly and continuously. Importantly, they did not cause any damage to our neighbor whose driveway and property was being used.
The very next day, a crew arrived with a large stump grinder. Once again, the courteous crew worked quickly and continuously all day, covering the entire involved properties. Subsequently a relatively short time later, a Davey Tree skilled technician applied herbicide to the remaining leafed bamboo shoots and live stalks.
The diligence and professionalism of the Davey Tree crews in a situation that touched many properties ended in a very positive outcome with no complaints from the numerous neighbors whose properties were touched by this project. Actually I received many positive comments about the process, the careful way the crews operated and the beautiful result. And I found the contract amount from Davey Tree to accomplish such a positive result to be fair and reasonable.
An important factor in the success of this challenging project was the Davey Tree certified arborist, Paul Vega. He managed the crews, advised me on the progress and what would be happening next. Paul went the extra mile during the whole process to make the operation go smoothly. His expert advice was invaluable.
Davey Tree is on my list for needed tree work in the future.

“These guys are great. My Mom wanted a tree removed quickly. They answered their phone late one evening and the next day were at her home to give an estimate. He showed up early and delivered a fair price. A short while later he brought his crew over with these huge professional trucks to remove a 70-foot high 40-year-old tree as well as the stump. Both were ground down into chips which is exactly what my Mom wanted for future planting. Excess chips were placed at the edge of the property - per my Mom's request - for beautification. Additionally, they removed a few other trees quickly and efficiently. Through the whole process, they were mindful of the front and side lawn leaving no damage behind. Her driveway and street were cleaned of any debris, chips, and branches leaving everything in tip-top shape. She said she'd have no hesitation in using them again. Thanks, team Keylor!“

“I needed a huge oak tree in my back yard taken out. They came 7:30 am , they are sooo professional ! They immediately buy down plywood on the front lawn so the lawn wasn’t damaged.
