My Name is Pat Asmuth. My daughter Amy was "5" years old when she began classes at Gisele Renee's Dance Studio many years ago. At that time, Gisele offered baton twirling classes. Amy enjoyed these classes at which Gisele saw her potential. Amy, now in 1st grade, elected to participate in the school talent show showcasing her baton twirling talent. Lovely dance studio. Gisele is so sweet and great with the kids. They stock all the ballet and tap shoes you might need. The waiting area is a bit small and there's no observation window, so most parents drop kids off and do something else during the class. There is another changing area with a cute rocking horse the kids can play on as well.

This has been (and still is!) perfect for my daughter. Miss Gisele is probably the most empathetic dance teacher I have ever met. She seems to really love the kids, she shares in their joys and triumphs and comforts them in their woes. She talks them out of frustrations and allows each child to go at her own pace. Plus she has a real recital at the end of each year - the kids genuinely adore the costumes, the make up and the very choreographed dancing in a real theater. If you want your daughter at NYCB by 15, this isn't for you. But if your child loves to dance, laugh and work toward something in a loving but firm environment - you can't do better.
