Mizan is AWESOME! The space is private. She is very attentive, professional and experienced. The products are all natural. I have read negative reviews and many seem to be do to other staff members or scheduling conflicts. But when I say…she is the real deal!

What’s the sense of having your google listing stating you’re open and when you call the owner never picks up. Multiple attempts with the same outcome..Ridiculous!!

This was such a bad experience, but I didn’t know how bad until I got my hair retied by a certified loctician. Quick backstory: I’ve been locked for 2 years, and have been driving from Jersey to queens for maintenance with the loctician who established me. She is amazing but it became too much to travel there, so I looked for someone locally. Since this is a reputable loc salon, I assumed they wouldn’t have issues with sisterlocs, so I booked. Unfortunately, it was a horrible experience. I didn’t write a review sooner because I didn’t know how bad it was until my retie yesterday. So many locs were finished off in the wrong direction, and connected to other locs due to poor technique. Luckily my grid wasn’t ruined and the new loctician was able to restore me. The appointment also took way longer than I could’ve anticipated; 7 HOURS! Then she tried to charge me hourly. They may do great work with traditional locs and retwists, but if you have sister locs or micro locs, stay away!

I got "permanent" loc at Knotty Roots. I overlooked the fact that it took 12 hours because I thought that they looked good. I put permanent in quotes because every 2 to 3 weeks one of them falls out. Every time I get them washed I have to get (and pay for) reattachment too. I recently had a wash/re-twist and 3 days later was missing 3 locs. The following weekend I showed up for a 10am appointment and was told I would have to wait an hour. After waiting 1hr. and 45mins I left with my hair undone. I have been a customer for 7 months and feel very mistreated.

First impressions are everything!! I scheduled a consultation and the consultation went so well that I decided to schedule an appointment with Mizan. I scheduled with Mizan because at the consultation it was explained to me that I needed some specialized loc care and she is the one who does this service. Long story short I scheduled the appointment while at the consultation. It was about a week or so in advance. I got a call the day before my appointment stating that Mizan wasn't going to be in on that day. I could reschedule with someone else or reschedule with Mizan at a later date. Wow, I was so disappointed as I was looking forward to this appointment and the fact that they waited until the day before to cancel. Like how unprofessional is that!! I feel Ike as a potential new client who took the time out and spent money on a consultation to come there for her service. She could have at least reached out to me, especially if she was going to cancel the appointment on such short notice. I guess this is a way of the universe looking out for me, to save me from further disappointment, so I am grateful. However, It was still very unprofessional and disappointing!

Mizan is the Best Loctician I’ve ever been with hands down! Always on time, very flexible appointments and beyond talented! She can do any style you ask of her I mean any style! If she hasn’t done it before all you have to do is show her a photo of what you want and she will do it guaranteed! She is so good, after 2 years I no longer choose my styles I just tell her to create what she feels that day and I’m always beyond satisfied! She’s been doing locs longer than I been alive so her knowledge on hair is beyond impeccable! Also, The studio is super clean & professional! Mizan is the only loctician I allow to touch my hair! If I have to go to a wedding and she is away on vacation I’d be at that wedding without a retwist guaranteed! PS: I’m going to get my locs maintenance tomorrow so see you guys there!Services: Braids
