Our 5-year old Goodman(what a joking brand) dual zone furnace was stopped working with “cannot find the R wire” error on thermostat and fan’s constantly on but no heat on a heavy snow day that’s below freezing. The HVAC was having the same issue a few weeks back and we hired an electrician did some digging but the fix didn’t last long as the error recurred today. Called another supposedly “pro” HVAC guy who told us it’s gotta be done with an additional transformer by the books and would charge an arm & leg to get it done “properly” but the HVAC worked for the past 5 years okay no issues, why it stopped?
