It takes a village to raise a child. Barr Karate is that village for my daughter. She has been training for six years under Soke Barr and is on her way to becoming a black belt (and go further beyond). My five-year-old son too has started training this year. Barr Karate is a uniquely special place – kids learn karate with a comprehensive curriculum involving forms, weapons, and Jiu Jitsu (self-defense) and build an unparalleled precision and vigor in their techniques (that also leads to numerous trophies for the kids at national and international tournaments). Even more importantly, kids learn life defining values of discipline, determination, and dedication that train and prepare them not just for karate, but for life. Soke Barr and other senior black belt instructors take personal interest to ensure that every kid in the dojo is doing his or her best. Soke Barr is an institution in himself with a wealth of wisdom and years of martial arts practice. It is a privilege to train under him. Even during these testing times of a pandemic, the dojo has continued its onward march under Soke’s relentless guidance – either via zoom video calls or outdoor training sessions in parking lot while practicing strict social distancing and wearing masks, my kids haven’t stopped training through this entire time. Lastly, Barr Karate is a great training place for kids and adults alike. I myself started training four years back as an adult and it has been an amazing journey to my brown belt so far. I can tell first hand, both as a parent and a student, Barr Karate is an outstanding, unparalleled, excellent martial arts institution, no question about it.
The Best! Real life teachings, guidance and wisdom!
Yes for me reminds me of my Drill Instructor US Army. You learn a great deal.
