I sometimes get emails for focus groups, take 20 min to do a pre-screen, survey then nothing. Or I will do the pre-screen and they call and want to go over it for 20 min. Make no mistake, the pre-screen is a form of a survey/focus group, a free survey you are giving them. You are providing them your opinions and not getting paid for it, unless they decide to have you come in. I used to enjoy going in 1-3x/year but it's becoming a hassle doing 40 min pre-screens (online and then if they call you to go over it) and not getting a call back or booked to come in = get paid. I loved participating in one of their focus groups! Plus I got a $150 Visa gift card on the spot!8/2018 I was called for yet another cool study. Took 2 min to qualify and I was good to go! Another $150 Visa card for a 40 min fun engagement! I hope to do this again!!!
