When our 9 year old son was severely bullied at school culminating in a physical assault requiring an ultrasound we wanted a way for him to learn to protect himself and decided to give Portsmouth Aikido’s kids program a try and we are so glad we did! Not only was Sensei Aaron and the other instructors extremely welcoming to my son, after hearing what had happened he offered to hold a special training session on how children can safely deal with bullies. I started training with Portsmouth Aikido just over a year ago. Having no martial arts experience and walking through the door on a whim I immediately knew I was where I needed to be. I'm constantly in awe of the strength and gentleness of the people around me. I would encourage anyone who's curious, regardless of age, background, physique, or health, to come and give it a try. We have a place for you.

I'm glad I found this dojo about a year ago. For me, it's totally worth the commute of an hour each way to get there. Chief Instructor Aaron Cass is an amazing martial artist who studied Aikido several years in Japan and shares his deep knowledge in fun and well-structured classes. The camaraderie in this dojo is very supportive with black belts and advanced students helping beginner students.
