I feel They were very judgemental and wanted to put off my treatment for intensive outpatient because I used till my very last day until intake and secondly I had other obligations to attend on Monday nights for 4 more weeks so told me come back in a month, contacted heartfelt recovery centers they took me in the very next day and i have over 2 weeks clean and doing very well They didn't listen well when I told them all I needed was the chance and separation from the active addiction instead I got judgement denials. I highly suggest heartfelt recovery centers.

This happened 4 years ago but I used to be a pushover and people pleaser so that’s why I’m reviewing this now. I went to get my medication. Nurse all of a sudden says I need to take a blood pressure med. I question it bc I’ve never had a problem with my blood pressure and I’ve never taken a med for it. Nurse said she will get back to me. Not too long after, she finds me and says “Dr says you need to take the blood pressure med bc it’s on your chart” so I listen and take it. Few hours later while I’m in my room and showering, there’s banging on my door. Once I get out and am get dressed I answer it. It’s a nurse. Nurse said I shouldn’t have taken the blood pressure medication. I say “I know, I’ve never had a problem with blood pressure and that’s why I questioned it. But you guys told me to take it so I did” either later that day or the next day I see the Dr. Dr says he made a mistake and had the wrong chart open and that’s why the blood pressure med went on my chart and not the correct patients chart. I’m sorry, but when you’re dealing with medication, especially in a mental health center, you need to make sure you’re giving the right patients the right meds. That blood pressure med could have very well interacted with other meds I was taking and caused serious harm. They also prescribed me an anti psychotic without a contingent. Which caused me to have dystonic reactions and caused me to go to the hospital multiple times, caused me to be out of work for a week at a brand new job where I had just started there a week earlier and didn’t have any sick time yet. So I had to go a week without pay. while hospitalized for the dystonic reactions, the hospital nurse said I shouldve been prescribed a contingent with the antipsychotic to prevent the dystonic reactions from happening. Just very negligent behavior that could cause serious issues in the future. If you’re working in a hospital or someplace like this that prescribes/gives out medication, you need to be more diligent in what you’re prescribing people.

Staff was friendly and kind, went after work 15 minutes before they closed and they did not make me feel rushed or unwanted. Dr. Wu was a blessing. Proper diagnosis and speedy prescription. Even calling to make sure the pharmacy would be open and suggested which to go to so I could start getting better same day.

This is specifically for the PHP program.
Intake: I was asked to arrive early for intake for an appointment at 9am. I came at 8:45am and was asked to wait in the lobby. I was there until 9:10 I think. Turns out the security guard never told them i arrived. This already put a bad taste in my mouth.
Next I informed my intake team i was having withdrawals from a prescribed medication as my psychiatrist didn’t properly wean me off. I was told i could get psychiatric help, nope. Because thats their policy since i have a psychiatrist, but they will schedule a new psychiatrist appointment. Ok fine.
I was never really explaining what the program is, what we are working on, or how it would help my current situation. I was told the program length can be 5,7, or 10 days. When i asked how long i needed to be there i was vaguely told someone would discuss it with me later (never happened until my 4th day).
Essentially the PHP program is to identify triggers and utilize coping mechanisms, boundaries, etc to cope with your mental health, but its all in a group. Nothing is centralized to you or your specific needs. *****This can be incredibly helpful if you have not learned these skills, and if you need a refresher. However I found group made things worse for me, as I have a hard time focusing on myself with others talking about their issues as my work background was essentially helping people through crises.
I confided to the team that I felt I needed something in between In patient and php. I expressed since I was likely struggling from the medication withdrawals, and other life issues, that I was not a danger to myself. And that I didn’t want to be held prisoner for needing help. All I was told is “its your choice if you want to do it or not” there was no “we think you need this” or “what questions do you have about our program” everything was weird, vague, or tight lipped and then I'm made to feel I am unreasonable.
When people go through the proper channels for mental health and are still made to feel they're the problem or they are dangerous…and providers give the bare minimum effort to assist you to proper resources or treat you with empathy its no wonder there is such a mental health crisis. This is why people don't reach out for help. And that actually breaks my heart.
I will say the reason I am giving 2 stars is because the group leader Sheridan is a genuinely nice man. He has compassion and understanding that a lot of professionals do not. If you are a man struggling with some stuff especially I find his methods very uplifting and not shaming.
P.s. the security guards in the front, when a woman goes out of her way to not look at you or address you just leave her alone! you made me extremely uncomfortable.

If you need life saving services and go here, to find out they can’t help you after you have been admitted and you need to be transferred out, you will be in a world of limbo for days or weeks waiting for a transfer to a bigger hospital, that is if a bigger hospital will accept a transfer from here.
