Buyer beware! My wife and I purchased a funeral plan from John A Gentleman for approx. $10,000 each. The plan is actually through National Guardian Life Insurance. I'm not sure which is the bigger crook! The 10yr plan to pay off the funeral plans would have cost us $20,000 each. The sales lady would make a good used car salesman. A simple statement like "do you realize your combined $20,000 funerals will end up costing you $40,000" would have have been nice and enough to deter us from this ridiculous scam. Did she do anything illegal...probably not. Was how she presented the plan ethical...absolutely not. $12,000 later and we have nothing! Please don't get burnt like we did! Thomas Belford should be ashamed that he would allow this product to be sold under the John A. Gentleman name. It is a sad day when you can't trust a funeral home to be honest, upfront and operate with integrity!!
Our family has used John A. Gentleman Mortuaries for years and years. Tom Belford is awesome at what he does. They make a person feel comfortable in a very sad situation.
My girls and I recently lost Jim, husband and father, at the early age of 43. Shock, disbelief, and grief were all encompassing. I reached out to John A Gentleman upon referral from a friend who lost her husband just 4 days prior. We worked with Brian, and words can't express our gratitude. He took all the time we needed to go over steps, process, things to think about, and was patient and compassionate throughout. At a time like this, that means the world. For him, and this funeral home as a whole, it's clear this is not just a job. They truly care for the families that rely on them to guide them through one of the worst times of their lives. I am so thankful, and it resulted in a beautiful laying to rest for someone who meant the world to us. Thank you Brian, and John A Gentleman Mortuaries.
