CHI St. Alexius billing process if horrendous to deal with. You won’t be able to speak to anyone local, they will turn you over to collections while still trying to pay the bill. There online account access is limited. I would never recommend stopping at a CHI hospital.

I was put into a stall in the ER with someone else’s items in it. One of the nurses asked me if I had seen the previous patient’s sweater. I told them I had not. I just perched on the edge of the bed as I knew it hadn’t been cleaned and who knew what the previous person had been in for. The older gentleman in the stall next to me got up and was wandering around and kept looking in on me. The nurses were running around looking for his hearing aids as they were “misplaced” or possibly flushed in the bathroom as I had overheard. I came in due to stepping on a nail and requesting a tetanus shot. The wound was not large or at risk of infection, and I didn't request that anyone treat or look at the wound. The staff didn't tell me they were charging me approximately $700 for a full visit. It's crazy to pay $700 for one shot. Friendly staff, but one star for very bad communication and for not explaning the charges and going beyond what I requested without consent.
