1.Be prepared to spend over $200.00 a month because the teacher will want to test your child on one thing to get a new belt EVERY MONTH and if you say no he will make your child feel out of place.2.Be prepared to sign a 1 year contract, the teacher Anthony Watts is more interested in getting you to sign that contract than anything.3.The teaching style is crap, does not show children proper form for anything.4.Picks favorites in class and if your child is acting like a child and not like she is in the military, he will sit them out the entire class period and belittle them.5.Does not pay for instructors but expects parents to participate in every single class.6.SHADY SHADY BUSINESS BEWARE!!!!!!!

My children both attend Uplevel martial arts. They have been doing it for 4 years and are working towards their 2nd degree black belt. We absolutely love Uplevel. My son has gained so much confidence and is amazing. Mr. Watts is awesome with kids. He is a marine and has a black belt in several different styles of martial arts. I don't know about a few past reviews but they definitely weren't about the money. We weren't charged outrageous prices for a trial class. Mr. Watts even comes on his day off to help kids improve, and stays after class to help kids if needed. It's not just about martial arts either. They care about how the kids are outside of martial arts. My son is more responsible about doing chores and school work. I can't say enough about Uplevel. It's like another family to us.

I would not recommend signing up here. They are all about earning their commission for signing you up to a contract. My kids attended 3 classes before deciding they didn't like it. They want me to pay nearly $1000 for those 3 classes. Don't be fooled by their trial class - after that you're on the hook for nearly $1000 over six months regardless of what happens. Try one of the other options in Waxhaw that don't lock you in. They cared more about having me commit then teaching my kids.

I went and took my son to a trial class because we were looking for something closer to where we lived and we were very disappointed. It looks great they have cute uniforms and belts but the instructors are not trained in martial arts whatsoever other than what they've been trained by up-level. There were students who were goofing around and not standing still not focused and not corrected. I guess it's good for families or students who are just looking to gather some sort of experience but certainly nothing of true substance.
