Went to this shop based on a recommendation from a neighbor on Nextdoor. In the past, I've typically just walked into any barber when needing a haircut, Steve prefers that clients schedule an appointment but does take walk-ins. Steve's shop is within the Poiema Salon in downtown Southport, but is still easy to find as there's a barbers pole outside the salon. His shop is just quaint enough to close the door and have privacy if needed and Steve gives you that old-school barber vibe. I can't say enough good things about my recent Ouidad cut with Leanne! I used to drive 2.5 hours for a ouidad cut from Wilmington and eventually gave that up. I was THRILLED to find her and this adorable and beautiful salon. She is amazing and truly takes the time to get to know you and understand your curls. I was incredibly happy with my hair when I left and will be back for my next cut. She is a rare talent, thank you Leanne!!

If you are a curly girl, YOU. MUST. GO. Leanne is a certified Ouidad stylist, something that is sorely lacking around here. The next closest salon is about 5 hours from here. Leanne takes the time to get to know you and your hair.Needless to say I am over the moon about having a stylist who is trained in cutting curly hair.The salon is very serene and relaxing. My next appointment is already scheduled!
