The shelter has a nice play yard, and they let visitors see as many dogs as needed to find the right one. The most amazing shelter! If you want to adopt a dog, this is the place to go. Every single staff member is friendly, their kennels are clean, and they have a really nice play yard. We visited 4 shelters over 1 weekend trying to find the right dog for our family. Other shelters were rude to us for wanting to meet with more than 1-2 dogs, some were pushy over certain dogs and mad when we didn’t think they were the right fit, and others wouldn’t let us bring our dog to dog test with potential adoption dogs. BUT NOT CATAWBA COUNTY! They let us see as many dogs as we needed to see in order to find the right one. There was no long wait to be walked back to look at dogs. They provided plenty of toys to play with dogs with. Gave us detailed info on each dog we asked to look at. They weren’t pushy with their suggestions. They encouraged us to bring our other dog to see how interactions would go. The dogs in their care looked healthy and clean. They adopt dogs the right way. They are in it for the best interest of the individual dog, not trying to adopt to whoever with whatever dog just to have higher adoption numbers. Cannot recommend this shelter enough if you’re looking for a new furry family member. Go meet their animals and staff and see for yourself! We welcomed Roczee as our family dog and are thrilled with her and the entire experience. Thank you again!
Very clean, great staff, and very well cared for animals. We were lucky enough to take home the perfect addition to my family this morning at opening and the adoption process was extremely fast.
We went Saturday looking for a small dog and found one! I have looked for weeks. A small one is hard to find. They were great! I found out they only euthanize a dog if it bites etc. and they have to. He said it was only about 14% I think. When they pick one up they put them on hold for 3 days to give the owner a chance to claim him/her. After that they get them spayed/neutered, chipped and current on vaccines. Everyone there was so kind. I only wish I was able to do what I saw several other volunteers doing and take those bigger dogs for a good walk. If you are healthy they need volunteers. They also need donations to get these things done for them, feed them, give them toys, collars, harnesses , leashes etc. Please help them in whatever capacity you can.
