I joined the Y last winter, and I found the gym facilities covered my exercise needs well and have been happy up to this point.
Unfortunately, last night around 7 PM, I witnessed behavior from a staff member that I found unacceptable. A small group of people who spoke Spanish and little to no English came in to use the gym. The mother scanned her pass, and the receptionist was immediately aggressive, exclaiming, “who are you?” to the woman and her young son. Why not politely ask her and her son for their names?

I put off going here for my first 6 months on OBX after reading poor reviews regarding staff. I'm so glad I reconsidered! The space is affordable, clean, and so far I've only had good interactions with staff. Donna is always a bright moment in my day! I'm not sure who the negative reviews are about (I know one person has many), but I have yet to cross them. Happy I joined and am making progress with my health once again.
Thank you, Jamie for the new lane markers in the outside pool! There is nothing better than swimming laps outside in the sun. I only wish we could use the pool longer, but mother nature has more thoughts about that than us.
