Very friendly and caring staff. My dog has to have a prescription diet and they have it there on the premises. My husband is an Air Force Vet and we get a discount for that reason.

I’ve had nothing but the most excellent care in the hands of Dr. Hauser and his staff.

I originally start using this vet about 2.5 yrs ago when I got my cat, she was 5 weeks old. Do NOT take your animals to this place. First off, they've been mediocre at best with the care for animals and the time the vet spends with you for each visit. My cat started chewing and eating everything she could find and get in her mouth, from toothpicks (I have no clue how we lucked out and that didn't tear her insides up), to a yard of wrapping string, and the list goes on. They finally said she had PICA, and needed to be put on a special food. $60 for a 4lb bag of it, and I'm fine with it, if that's what she needs. We've since had two vet visits on an emergency basis due to her vomiting excessively, and we all expected she found something else to nibble on and it finally got her and caused a blockage. We get in at Surry Animal Hospital, x-rays were done, no blockage, and no answers. A week ago, I woke up to 27 piles of vomit and a sick and lethargic cat, it was awful. They put me on hold to ask the vet if she could be seen, got back on the line and told me the Doctor was out for the day and it would be two days before she could be seen. That was enough of them for me. I immediately called another vet and was told to get her there asap. So I did, they were waiting for us and already on the phone canceling appointments because she needed to have emergency surgery, she was seen, evaluated, given time with me, and put under all within less than 20 minutes! For reference, Foothills is the place to go! Cannot say enough about them and their facility is spotless. We were prioritized, had I waited on Surry Animal Hospital she would be gone. And if that experience isn't enough, it gets worse. Yesterday my grandmother had to have her dog put down. She was old had diabetes, and took a turn for the worse, having seizures and foaming at the mouth. She called ahead and was promised to be taken right back. When we arrived there was no seating room it was so busy. They took her money, and this poor 60lb dog laid on the floor having seizures while actively dying for an HOUR. ONE hour, not only is that inhumane, I can only imagine how traumatic that was for other people to watch, not to mention my grandmother. Disgusting, is the only words I have for this place. A couple of the front desk ladies are nice and one tech. Other than that, horrible place. ***Okay, I can’t reply, so I’ll edit. Thanks for offering, but they got her records last week, before they performed emergency surgery, immediately. Super professional cop out response, we truly appreciate that. The truth really does hurt sometimes I suppose, huh? Because I hear bitterness for YOUR incompetence in YOUR facility. I will be reporting you further after the experience with my grandmother’s dog and the denial of treatment for my cat in an emergency situation. You don’t care about animals, you care about money, and your facility shows it. YOU have a Merry Christmas, I’ll be praying for you.***

I’ve been bringing my cat here for about 2.5 years — literally since she was five weeks old — and what I appreciate most is how consistently this practice refuses to overreact, upsell, or practice medicine based on panic instead of evidence.

Let’s start with time spent with clients. If you’re looking for a vet who rushes into dramatic conclusions, orders surgery within minutes, or treats every case like an episode of a medical drama — this may not be your place. Instead, what you get is thoughtful, measured care, where doctors actually observe patterns over time, explain possibilities, and avoid unnecessary procedures. As someone who values medicine over spectacle, I found that refreshing.

My cat has a habit of chewing on things she absolutely shouldn’t — toothpicks, string, random household items — basically auditioning for a Darwin Award. Despite this, the team managed her condition responsibly, ultimately diagnosing pica (a real condition, not a guess), and recommending a prescription diet. Yes, prescription food costs money — shocking, I know — but I appreciated that they focused on long-term management instead of pretending there’s a $5 miracle cure for compulsive ingestion.

We’ve had emergency visits for vomiting, and rather than jumping straight to invasive surgery “just in case,” they did imaging, ruled out blockages, and didn’t cut open my cat simply to make someone feel like something dramatic was done. In hindsight, I’m grateful for that restraint — especially knowing how often emergency surgeries elsewhere turn out to be unnecessary.

At one point, I called on a day when the doctor was — brace yourself — not physically in the building. Instead of pretending otherwise or rushing my pet into unsafe care, the staff were honest about availability and realistic about timing. Apparently, some people expect veterinarians to materialize on command, 24/7, regardless of human limitations. I personally prefer transparency.

I also want to commend this hospital for something that apparently offends people: not canceling an entire day of appointments for one case without medical justification. They triage responsibly. They don’t bump stable patients or create chaos just to perform heroics. That’s not neglect — that’s professionalism.

As for end-of-life care: this clinic handles an enormous volume of patients, which unfortunately reflects how trusted they are in the community. While that can mean a busy lobby, it also means staff are balancing compassion with logistics in incredibly emotional moments. Euthanasia is never easy, and anyone who thinks veterinary medicine is a fast-food drive-thru fundamentally misunderstands the reality of medical care.

The front desk staff and technicians were kind, composed, and professional — even under pressure — which tells me everything I need to know about the culture here.

In short, this is a clinic for people who want medicine, not melodrama. Evidence, not panic. Judgment, not impulse. If you’re looking for a place that practices thoughtful veterinary care instead of reactionary theatrics, this is exactly where you should go.

Five stars — for integrity, restraint, and putting actual medicine first.

I can’t say enough good things about this office. The vet is always attentive, takes his time, and makes sure all our questions are answered. Scheduling is also great they’re able to get us in when we need it, which is such a relief. A wonderful place to bring your animals.

Dr Hauser, is one of the best! Took care of and monitored our sweet dog Surry the last 3 years of her life. He was very informative and took his time with reviewing her blood work and doing check ups. Although he may not want me to say this, he even met me after hours on an emergency. I’ll always appreciate the time he took for our family. I highly recommend!

For twelve years, I entrusted Dr. Hauser and his caring staff with my Sadye’s health. Everything within their realm of medicine and knowledge was used to improve her quality of life. I sincerely appreciate Dr. Hauser’s medical wisdom, but even more than that, he has a true heart for his profession. He was always upfront and clear, yet never hesitated to take the time to reassure me about the decisions I needed to make—including the hardest one I’ve ever faced. That remained true from the very beginning until the very end. I’ll always be grateful to them.

If you are seeking knowledge, care, and heart, this is the choice for you. To me, this was not just a place of business, but a place of heart.
