The staff at Mackie Funeral Service are literal gems of human beings. The process of losing a loved one is never easy, but they make the process seamless with grace and empathy that you would think your loved one mattered to them almost as much as they mattered to you. Everything we did, from meeting with Andy Thompson at the beginning of the process to discuss funeral plans, to the slideshow they did for my father, to the actual service itself, was beautifully done and made my heart feel lighter than it had in days. The staff there TRULY cares about your experience and helping you through it with a guiding hand. I had never done anything like this before and was nervous about the process and they walked me through it every step of the way. People have said funeral homes (in general - not Mackie specific!) are like car dealerships in trying to do add ons or salesmanship; but I would have to wholeheartedly disagree with that statement. This whole process was client driven, and they never tried to upsell anything or add anything unnecessary to the process. I gave them a vision of what I wanted for my dad, and they went above and beyond to make it happen and were integral in my healing during this time. Andy has a fantastic team at Mackie and I would recommend them without question to anyone who has lost a dear person in their lives.
My mother passed away on Friday September 20th and we used Mackie-Whisenant Funeral Home for all our needs and That experience was unbelievably wonderful and easy. They were beyond experienced and knowledgeable and answered all our questions and did not once pressure us into anything but more like helped us in picking out what we needed to make the funeral process go very smoothly. They understand you are grieving and do not take advantage of the grieving loved ones, the didn’t try to sale us anything that we did not need that would have costed us a fortune or would driven the price of the funeral up. They were very thorough and made sure we understood every detail and actually made you feel like family instead of a client or customer. I give Mackie-Whisenant Funeral Home 5 stars and I will always keep them in mind when a time like this arises again.
I've had several of my family members that you all have buried. The McCrary s, my Grandma's and a couple of my Uncles. Darrell Richards sometimes sings there, he is married to Luda Kirby Richards.
