Came in for an ROTC eye exam with Mr. Elmore; pleasant experience. He recommended bringing my kids in for exams. All my kids saw Jessica Elmore. She was amazing with the kids. Thorough, fun, kind, and quick. She is very gifted with children. The rest of the staff was great too. Especially the assistants that helped run the machine tests. Highly recommend, especially for anyone who needs kids eye exams. No issues using Tricare Prime.

Receptionist seemed polite and tone completely changed when it came to the type of insurance I had.

My 86 year old dad has been seeing Dr Jessica Ellmore about 5 years. Once we moved to Fayetteville office from Dunn, the efficiency and professionalism of staff drastically declined. Twice in less than 6 months staff made important scheduling errors. In December we were notified last minute of a scheduling issue and rescheduled for over a month out. Dad's insurance changed for 2026. The week before the appointment we were told they no longer take Humana because of low reimbursement rate. I asked about self pay and was ignored. I asked for Dr Ellmore to call me as she had always been very concerned with Dad's care and very kind to us both. Confirmed with Humana that they were still listed as in network. Humana rep called the Fayetteville office and we had a 3 way chat. Office staff confirmed they were in network but choosing to disregard their contract with Humana. I filed a complaint with Dept of Insurance. I left another message for Dr Ellmore stating my disappointment and concern that her refusal to honor his insurance and now a 2nd delay in his care could be detrimental to his welfare. No response from her at all, which is the most disappointing of this entire situation. She sure fooled us into thinking she was a caring and professional doctor!

I came to Fayetteville in mid 2017 and I have been seen by multiple eye doctors from Fayetteville, Cameron, Sanford, Durham, Charlotte, and Raleigh. From personal experience, none of them come close to the professionalism, respect, and outright friendly treatment and patient care I received and witnessed at American Eye Care. They are just awesome and always professional from the time I entered to the time I exited their building. From the front desk to the nurses to the doctors, I am proud to be your patient and advocate. Thank you very much for your work and kindness while remaining true professionals. Upon entering this eye doctors establishment dr William Elmore treated me horribly wrong, dr Elmore made very rude and disrespectful comments about my weight. Dr Elmore then proceeded to tell me that I was severally obese and that if I didn’t change my habits I would die. During this whole visit dr Elmore made these highly inappropriate and unprofessional comments regarding my weight even going as far as “you probably sit behind a computer screen and eat twinkies all day.” This made me highly uncomfortable and all I could do is sit there and laugh uncomfortably because I didn’t know how to react by being called fat and obese by an optometrist. Dr Elmore then made comments about how I am Lucky to be seen today 7/30/25 (date occurred) because I have Medicaid, and that he no longer sees new patients with Medicaid as if I was being treated as a charity case. These unprofessional and snide remarks made me highly uncomfortable and I will not be returning. After going to This establishment I decided to see if others experienced the same poor and unprofessional care as I did, and not to my surprise many others have had the same issues with him making comments regarding Medicaid, and even racist remarks.

This clinic seemed pleasant at first, but the tone noticeably shifted once I mentioned the type of insurance I had. I was quickly told they were booked out for patients with that coverage. While I appreciate the honesty and understand that scheduling limitations can vary by provider and plan, the conversation felt rushed and dismissive.
It would have left a more positive impression if the staff had taken a moment to offer an uninsured or self-pay estimate for a basic eye exam instead of trying to end the call so quickly. A little extra time and consideration would go a long way in helping patients feel respected—especially those navigating limited coverage options.
