Shaw's Karate is a hidden gem in the community, run by Master Shaw who has been teaching martial arts for decades. The dojo is known for its fun, well-disciplined group and dedicated teachers (Sensei) who provide instruction with heart, kindness, and affection. The current owner, Mr. Yuri Powell, is an outstanding instructor skilled in the martial arts and runs a family-oriented business where students of all ages train together. The dojo emphasizes focus, concentration, respect, and discipline while keeping the classes enjoyable, especially for the kids. With reasonable pricing and a welcoming community, Shaw's Karate is highly recommended for those seeking a quality martial arts experience.
I started at Shaw's about 4 years ago and I have had such a great experience. I have met some of my best friends there and I have had the honor of getting to know both Mr. Powell and Mr. Shaw. I just got my Purple belt yesterday.
This is not just a place where you punch and kick, this is a family.
I attend the family karate classes with my kids, and it has been a great martial arts experience. Mr. Powell is an excellent instructor for both kids and adults. Great environment, and all of the advanced students are very supportive as well.
Wonderful place to learn karate, discipline, and life skills. Great diversity and awesome teachers! Myself and my whole family have been apart for this dojo for years. Highly recommend!
