Love the folks at Hair by Design. I've been seeing Chris Ragland for over 20 years, and he's always current on trends, styles, coloring, highlighting, and is a perfectionist when you are in his chair. And it's a friendly shop, so I enjoy coming in and talking with the other stylists--it's like a very welcoming environment where you see all ages coming in to get a fresh look. I always feel great when I walk out because I know my hair is spectacular.
This is a really good salon, conveniently located on Chapel-Hill Boulevard not far from University Road. Everyone is friendly, and I have enjoyed the haircuts and styles I received here. The prices are more reasonable than comparable salons in the area. The new bike path running in front of the shop, means you must take special care when turning in to park. The path is wide and seems like another lane, but you are not supposed to drive in it. If there were cyclists or pedestrians there, it would be dangerous, so watch that. But I wouldn't let the bike path issue keep me away from this otherwise fine business.
