Wow. Is this happening to everyone? After seeing that they turned me over to collections (something that hasn't happened to me in 20 years), I call their off-shore call center and they tell me they have sent me 3 bills, including a final notice bill (none of them came), and that I'd have to pay off the balance before they take me off of collections.

I received a bill from their collections agency, but I never received the initial bill! My insurance company verified that I didn't have a balance and that all claims had been paid, including my portion. Will never step foot in Wake Med again.

The billing department member Griffin was VERY rude. My insurance company did a conference call with the billing department to clarify why I received a bill for $788.33 when my explanation of benefits said I owed zero. It turns out the physicians are out of network with AETNA and the bill needed some extra processing. There was never any communication from the physicians office about this and Griffin said they did not have outgoing phone lines (really?). While on the phone my AETNA rep took the time to clarify and told Griffin the payment would be processed in about 14-21 days. I should owe zero.
