I live on Seabrook Island, SC, & I'm searching for a home in the NC mountains. I have quickly learned how dificult it is to be searching long distance in a competitive market. The entire experience has been very frustrating & nerve-racking to say the least. The best thing I've come upon in this whole experience is inspector Matt! There are simply not enough positive, wonderful words to describe how overall awesome he is & what a thorough, fantastic job he does. Best of all, he is just an all around honest, good guy. I find it very rare to come across someone who is passionate about their work & gives 110% to each & every job. He was assigned to inspect a home I was considering purchasing. He sent me an introductory email & in addition, texted me to let me know it was there. In the text, he asked me to call him at my convenience. I had looked at a home previously with another agency & had an inspection done. I never heard from the guy prior to or after inspection being done. I was very pleasantly surprised to receive his text & email. I called to introduce myself & explained I was 62 y.o., single & alone, & knew no one in North Carolina, & I was investing the majority of my life savings into this purchase. I told him that I needed to be extremely cautious in the home I chose & he was 1 of the most important people in my life right now! He was very professional, polite, & reassuring. I felt much more comfortable after speaking with him. I was in town for only a few days & needed the inspection done quickly. He performed the very next day & it may have even been on a Sunday. The home was a little less than 1,000 Sq. ft. Saying that he went above & beyond the call of duty is a gross understatement! He inspected the place with a fine tooth comb, checking every nook & cranny indoors & out, spending almost 5 hours at the property! He took videos of everything & explained what he was seeing, finding, looking for, etc. It was well after hours, & he prepared his report the same day & emailed it along with all the videos. I was simply awestruck at the professionalism & level of his overall performance. The next day, I texted him asking him to please call to review & explain his findings. He has always promptly returned my calls (& there have been quite a few) or texted he was unable to talk but would call back asap. I was nervous, clueless & had a ton of questions! He was extremely patient & understanding, answering & explaining in layman's terms. In addition, it really impressed me, that he took the initiative to request the names & #s for both the septic & pest control separate inspectors so he could discuss their findings & render his opinion to me. Again, always going the extra mile! I did not purchase that particular home, but have called Matt on several occasions since then to get his opinion & advice on other homes, how much certain repairs would cost, info on the different areas/cities around NC, in general a good bit of things outside the realm of inspections because he has a wealth of knowledge --very valuable for someone like me in the buyer's market. I offered to pay for pestering him for advice & just helping me in general, but he refused. In a nutshell, Matt has been priceless to me. He will most DEFINITELY inspect any & every home I intend to purchase. It's a great big world out there & I simply cannot stress enough how much more confident & secure I feel purchasing a home by myself knowing I have Matt to count on. There is no doubt in my mind if there is ANYTHING wrong, suspicious, or an issue that could be a major expense down the line, Matt will find it! He is a hero. Thanks a trillion Matt - you are one of a kind and greatly appreciated!!! Sharon Johnson P.S. I would give a million stars??
