Things have definitely changed since Doctor Johnson retired. Thankfully, some of the staff have remained. Still, the cons outweigh the pros for our family and our rescues.

My cat has been a patient here for about a year, since he was a kitten. We have always seen Dr. Watson, and this past visit was my last straw. My cat has always been healthy with no issues ever reported. We went in for a routine one year checkup, and Dr. Watson misdiagnosed a heart murmur. Additionally, they never called with blood test results as “they lost them.”
For context, I just received a second (very thorough) opinion at a new veterinary clinic. The doctor confirmed there is no heart murmur but rather Dr. Watson most likely misread his breathes and movements in between heart beats as a murmur. This could be also due to how terrified and anxious he was.
When my cat went in for his last visit here, the environment was incredibly overwhelming and terrifying for a cat. We waited about 30 minutes in the lobby while having dogs approach his carrier, the receptionist’s chair very loudly clicking, and the waiting room area being extremely small and cramped. I understand the lobby has been under construction for ever, but is there really no way to avoid this? We should be able to wait in the car until it’s time to be seen, like most vets offer.
We were seen by Dr. Watson again who was very short and did the exam very quickly. After only listening to his heart for about a minute or two, she diagnosed a heart murmur. She advised we do a blood test to see the extent of the murmur. Honestly, I was very anxious and had no idea what a murmur was. She failed to answer any of my questions or ease my anxieties, and rather acted like this was no big deal. Maybe it wasn’t, but I had no idea.
This is the reason we won’t be back. They told me they would call with results in 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the never called me and closed for the night. I waited patiently but very anxiously and called back the next day, where they told me they had lost his results and blood vial. I was extremely disappointed and surprised by the lack of professionalism. Dr. Watson called me after they found the result and told me she “forgot to run the test last night, but did it this morning.” I asked for a timestamped report which indicated the test was run at 12pm. This is right after I called, and it seems that she lied and forgot to the run the test at all, but did so right after I called.
The assistant also tried to upsell me on a $55 test that was unnecessary because he is indoor only. Also, the blood test was $66. Wondering if he was miraculously diagnosed with a murmur to get the blood test.
After this disappointing and very frustrating experience, my cat is no longer receiving care here and I advise anyone who cares about their pets to avoid Dr. Watson as best they can.

Definitely changed overtime. Dr Watson seemed to be in a hurry, did tests on our pup and really found out nothing that helped the situation. She was short with us which is usually never the case. Shes usually caring understanding and takes her time. Little overpriced also, called ahead of time to see what it was going to cost, walked out paying double.

It’s been a couple of years since I made the terrible mistake of using this Vet hospital to clean my Westies teeth. Since that day, he is now blind, has a severe infection of the skin and ears and is in very poor health in general. They chose to put all sick dogs together and Hana was just there for a dental procedure.
When I filed a complaint at the NC Vet Licensing Board in Raleigh, which I recommend everyone do who has a complaint, their medical notes were so poorly written it was impossible for the Board to tell what happened during the time he was there. To make things worse, they lied. They said they would be glad to see him again. When I tried desperately to get help the next day after the procedure, they told me to take a picture of his eyes and email it because they were short staffed. Later they told me that because I had complained, that I needed to find another Vet.
As the law would have it, I have a total of three years to file a law suit because they were obviously found negligent. However, the law only allows for the current value of the pet —mine is blind and deaf—and expenses going forward. I’m still considering it even though their insurance will cover and they won’t even notice.
The Vets I’ve seen since that day were horrified that Boone Hospital puts sick animals together. In case they try to dispute this, we all were standing together in the cold waiting to check in. Some dogs were so sick with respiratory conditions, their owners were carrying them. We all were together!
Don’t settle for this practice. The money is what they are after. They know nothing about the pets who are entrusted into their care and furthermore, it has been my experience that they did nothing to rectify the damage that was done. They broke the oath that they took when accepting the license to practice and they need to be held accountable.

I had a really great experience with these folks super sweet everyone there. Dr. Kieth was very kind and gave shots so quickly my dog didn't even notice! For a checkup all up to date shots and a blood test it was half the price of the previous vet I took her to so super friendly price in my opinion. They are definitely my dog's new local veterinarian will for sure be my go to from now on in Boone!

One of the best experiences I’ve ever had that the vet - we were quoted a very reasonable price for our cats unblocking procedure, and it fell under the quote! Super friendly staff who explain everything in laymen’s terms!! Would recommend to anyone for their little friends!!
