I was a long-time client of Wolff & Taylor, using the firm for both personal and business tax matters for approximately 15 years, from 2005 to 2020. My experience following my divorce and a later tax issue was deeply troubling. In 2025, I became aware of an amended tax return related to a prior year that had been prepared and filed that I had not previously been aware of. When I contacted Wolff & Taylor to request copies, clarification, and explanation, I was unable to immediately obtain complete documentation, and communication became dismissive and unresponsive. This lack of transparency caused significant stress and ultimately required formal legal action after evidence and court proceedings showed that IRS and Missouri DOR filings contained signatures that were not recognized as mine and that tax refunds that I was not previously aware had been issued. The matter resulted in court proceedings in St. Louis County (Case No. 20SL-DR02469), which are a matter of public record and can be reviewed through Missouri case net at www.courts.mo.gov The case was filed on May 6, 2025, with final judgments issued on July 30, 2025. In St. Louis, you have options when it comes to CPAs. I encourage others to choose a firm that prioritizes ethical practices, clear communication, transparency, and fiduciary responsibility.
