I wish they would do better about caring for the residents and providing person centered care. The workers (when they actually show up) need to be less lax on their duties and not complain so much, especially when the residents can hear them. I mean it's their job, one they willingly signed up and get paid for so please just DO it. The residents are people too and I only wish that everyone could get together to work towards the same goal which is providing excellent care for their residents. Without them, no one would even have a job.
My Mom lives here. They do a good job. I visit often, after all you know your loved one best. Mom has dementia and Alzheimer's, so she can't or won't say everything she needs. I reminded her to ask for what she needs. I have to remember the people taking care of Mom are doing a job, here they seem to care. Food, the food is very good, how do I know she eats!! Other homes she lost weight because she didn't eat. Food is so important I eat here with her sometimes. Care is always a process, an active process you have to be involved.
CNA spent more time visiting, offering unsolicited advise on family decisions, watching TV, reading her books and taking smoke and snack breaks than caring for our loved one. Reported to main local office, no changes were made. Scheduler was rude to family member when we asked for a possible rotation of workers so the familiarity and loss of professionalism would be posibally avoided.
