I can't even begin to describe the amount of relief I get from Dr. Gilkison's acupuncture and traction table treatments. I first went in with debilitating post radiation treatment pain. Every nerve in my body was over-firing. All the places in my body that my breast cancer CT scans had shown bone degeneration were in horrible pain. My body hurt when I stood, sat, laid down; just constant pain. I was seeking a holistic treatment, as I didn't want to take pain meds andy's OTC meds didn't touch the pain. At my first appointment, Dr. G did an extremely thorough medical history before our session began. Then I lay on my side (couldn't lay on my front yet) on a massage table and she needled my back areas and feet. I began to feel relief as I lay on the table, with the needles in me, during the 45 min. acupuncture session. Then she removed the back-side needles and I lay on my back on a heated traction table (a table that has a bar in the middle that rises in waves up and down your spine.) Dr. G then needled my front areas of pain and started the traction table. I lay on it with my needles in for another 45 mins. After that finished, I stood up and realized I had ZERO pain anywhere in my body. In amazement, I asked Dr. G why or worked so well? She explained that the acupuncture needles disrupt the nerve pathways that are over firing and thus relieves the pain. 3000 year old medicine can't be wrong! I am so grateful I decided to check my insurance company's website one night as I lay sleepless, in pain. I found that acupuncture is covered by my insurance and I had 20 visits a year. Dr. Gilkison was listed as a provider not far from me. At first I went regularly, as my body was still healing from chemo and radiation, and after about 2 weeks the pain would start to creep back. The treatments have ALWAYS given me substantial relief. Now I go back when I need a booster treatment, usually when my arthritis pain acts up due to barometric weather changes. Dr. G does all types of chiropractic and holistic treatments, in addition to acupuncture. Her patients love her and she has the best bedside manner. She is a "real person." Dr. Gilkison has been a God-send for me. I highly recommend her and her practice.
She will do the roller beads with heat if needed, stretch you out, acupuncture all before adjusting.
