Do not get a dot physical here, the doctors and staff are great, but I've been waiting for my physical to be certified for over 5 hours now, I was told it make take Kelly up to 24 hours to certify it.

Finally talked to a reasonable person this morning and she just submitted my medical card for certification, something that took less than 5 minutes to do after explaining my situation, 22 hours after I paid $174 for the physical. Absolutely ridiculous.

Took my granddaughter in. All Dr growe wanted to do is run tests. After 3 tests and finding nothing, I asked for script for nebulizer. Which was only thing helping and he asked if she had asthma. Answer is no and he never addressed it again although I asked twice. He was irritated that I did not want a flu test done, even though she had been ill for 5 days. .. and wanted to speak to mother by phone. After waiting for him mutple times ( and tests were done very timely) after 2hr and 14 min, I left....

Everytime I have came to this establishment, I have made an appointment, been told they don't do appointments after sitting there for 45 minutes, sitting another 30 minutes after seeing a nurse, and my daughter can't even get in until 2 hours after her scheduled appointment. The front end ladies are the only establishments saving grace. The doctors and other ladies are absolutely awful. We have only had one good doctor in our trips here. Will never be coming back, we will be driving an hour away for care from now on since this establishment doesn't understand what care is. Worst experience we have ever had at an Avera before. DR. DIERKS IS THE ROLE MODEL FOR ALL CARE PROVIDERS.

Dr. Hillman is a wonderful doctor whom I just started seeing at Avera in Worthington. She is kind and takes time with me to figure out meds and what will work the best for me and my situation. I'm so glad to have her as my physician!

Many of the people posting negative comments are not complaining about Avera, they are complaining about a particular doctor. The trick here, as it is in every clinic in the country, is getting a doctor (what we used to call a GP I guess) that's right for you. I have Dr. Lilgaroth, she is great, so I gave 5 stars. My wife has had bad experiences in the past with so many male drs (the old "you're a woman & I'm both a man AND a doctor, so I'm gonna ignore what you say") that she finally demanded a female doctor, and that happened to work out great for her. Gender may not have been the reason, she may just have got a great dr-- the important thing is, my wife was comfortable with her. When her female dr retired, she ended up with a male dr (Dr Gunderson, I believe?) and she says he is great. Ya just gotta shop around and get a doc that is a fit for you-- that is true of any clinic, not just Avera. But I've also had pretty much all positive experiences with other parts of the clinic-- reception, labs, nurses, Avera hospitals, even the money people. (Btw, I'm not a nice guy or a pollyanna; I am by nature an extremely demanding pain in the, uh, rear.)

I wouldn't give you 10 cents for most of the yahoo doctors and nurses here. However, I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Lilagroth. She is phenomenal. She listens, takes her time, and she actually does what's right. You don't feel like you're being run through a headgate like an animal. She isn't in and out. She listens completely and helps the best she can. You might have to remind her of a few things or be patient as getting in to see her takes time but she is awesome.

I guess if you ain't first your last! Which doesn't even makes sense because you can be 2nd, 3rd, heck you can even be 5th. We (my wife and I plus 4 month old baby) showed up at 11:27, the hours on this Sunday were 11-2. We were 5th in line. I watched everyone after us go in front of us. I even watched a person who showed up 40 minutes after us go ahead of us. There was an individual who was in and out twice before us, even left and came back in different clothes. We started out 5th and ended up dead last at 19th, keep in mind we were just there for tamiflu for simple influenza a. We might as well have turned off the lights and locked the place up because we left at 2. The icing on the cake was noone in town had tamiflu (the one and only reason we were there) it just makes me wonder about all the people that we're in front of use. Very disappointed, it's our first and last time there.
