Went to go try to adopt a dog I’ve had my eye on for a couple of weeks. First lady I talked to I confirmed I was willing to give the exercise the dog I was looking at would need. I also mentioned I lived in town and not on a farm. The lady who brought me to meet him rushed me through the meet. I didn’t get much time with him at all and he was distracted by the other dog in the next kennel so I didn’t really even get to interact with him much. Then she says she needs to put him back cause there was no one up front whereas the couple in the next kennel had been out there already when I got out there, so they had more time with the dog they were meeting and they were offered to meet another. I was not, which was fine at the time as I had every intention of adopting the dog I came to see. Then I get in, start asking more questions. I was told to just fill out an application and if I’m chosen then we can talk more. I was getting the feeling that they were not going to consider me and rather than saying that right off the bat they let me meet him and then crush my hope to adopt him. So I straight up called it out and that’s when she admitted they wouldn’t. If you have specific criteria for the person to adopt a dog, ask all those questions first. Don’t let them meet the dog, get their hopes up and then crush it like that. I will not be going back. I would have considered another dog if you had just been up front from the beginning. I lost my dog two months ago and wanted to give another dog a forever home that had been at the shelter for a month already. It was not a good experience.
