Recently, during my appointment, I observed a new stylist installing locs and having questions as he tended to his client. It made me smile as I watched the owner, Jae, and Dana at various times patiently provide guidance. Sitting under the dryer provided a great view, I watched with pride and amazement how they gently and intentionally poured wisdom into this young stylist and how he humbly listened to learn and improve his technique. I could not leave the shop that day without sharing with all of them how remarkable it was to witness these interactions in such a nurturing way. It was obvious that their guidance was not only helping him in the moment but planting the seeds for him to one day pay it forward in the same compassionate way. The experience reminded me of the power of community and the importance of support and mentoring! I would recommend Loc Starz and its amazing staff of professionals again and again!

My appointment was 8/25/25 with Ann! (Who is an amazing, patient, loving and very knowledgeable about her craft)The price was waaayyyyy affordable for the services I received. I basically had to restart my locs. The wash was amazing as well. I ENDED up getting inner Loc’d and a fresh start to healthy loc journey! I am forever grateful and extremely pleased with the entire experience. Anyone that needs loc care with love and respect; THIS IS YOUR PLACE!! I WILL BE BACK FOR THE REST OF MY LOC JOURNEY

I received service from Anne and she did a great job with my micro locs. Great conversation, she was friendly and took care of my hair. It took her 3.5 hours to retie my hair.

Lol I can't believe I haven't posted a review already. I've been going to this shop for years for retwists. I always go and see Dre to get me together. He washes my hair very well (especially given I have seborrheic dermatitis and thankfully he takes his time to make sure my scalp is clean), and retwists my hair quickly but with care. Haha the worst part in my opinion is having to sit under the dry, but they make sure your hair is dry before you leave so your style lasts longer.
And after all of that, it is only $90! I always tip what I can, but I haven't heard of anyone else having low prices like that anywhere in MN. I usually hear people say the other shops start at $130, so.......😗
The neighborhood the shop is in is slow paced and quiet. Everyone in the shop is chill as well and there's always good music playing, there's game shows playing on the TVs, and a collection of books to read. Lol something for everyone.
I'm looking forward to going back to the shop in a few weeks hopefully haha my hair needsssss it!

I highly recommend this place! The team is incredibly professional and outstanding at what they do. They make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Jae usually does my hair, but Dre and the rest of the ladies are equally amazing. Their skills and customer service are top-notch!
