About Hiawatha Golf Course
Hiawatha Golf Course is a historic and valuable asset to the South Minneapolis community. This city course offers 9 or 18 holes of play, though some greens may be under repair. While the course is not perfectly maintained, it is still a fun and affordable option for beginners and offers a pleasant layout. The roughs are challenging, with long grass that can lead to lost balls. Afternoon and weekend play can be slow, but twilight prices are hard to beat. This family-friendly course has a lot of character and fairly patient members. It gets wet easily and can be buggy in high summer, yet it features gorgeous views of the Wisconsin landscape. The staff is kind, and the carts are in good shape. Tournaments are always fun here, making it a great place to play. While scratch golfers might not find a high level of challenge, the course remains a fun track overall. Sunset photos taken here show just how beautiful it can be.
I played Hiawatha today. I haven’t played there in 2 years. The course is almost all the way back. Everything is beautifully green. Fairways are great and the rough is full. Greens are almost back. The vast majority of them were in great shape.
It’s a fun layout, an easy walk, the conditions are WAY better than the last time I played.
Hopefully the city will keep it as an 18 hole course. The plans they have for this course is just sad with the history of golf in this area.
Now that the conditions have improved, I’ll certainly be playing it more often in my rotation of Minneapolis muni courses. Keep up the good work!
James Moldenhauer is a clown (his review is quite comical and the furthest from reality). The crew at Hiawatha is the best, starter Mike included. Look forward to Tuesday night league every week. Keep our city courses strong! So lucky to have them.
My brother, my friend and I all went with 0 experience. Terrible idea. We were moving way too slow so we eventually got kicked off. They refunded us fully and let us borrow 2 sets of clubs and 180 balls to go practice at the driving range. Although we didn't get to play actually golf they gave us free stuff so we could get better.
