Absolute gem of course in Mahtowa. Had a blast playing a round at The Rugged Spruce this week. The course is a great blend of forgiving fairways and interesting features, and the greens played true. The food was fantastic and there is top-notch live music every week. Can’t say enough about this place; it’s everything golf should be. Can’t wait to play it again and catch more shows there!

Small menu but good food. Small restaurant but clean and well maintained, rustic type. Burgers & BLT was good. Jalapeño cream cheese wontons were great! Never had any bad food or bad service.

It was my first time golfing here, and after a 15-year hiatus from golfing at all. The course was beautiful and lush. There are no sand traps but enough water and other hazards to really test your skills. Price was perfect for a date day with husband, costing us only $44 for 9 holes and a cart. We did pay an additional $5 to rent clubs for myself. They also provide you with a cooler for beverages if you need. We even stayed and ate out on the blue umbrella patio, and the food was delicious. I asked them to make me the pesto chicken wrap without the wrap, so like a salad, and they did! We seriously had the best day there. It is a must course to try out for any golf enthusiasts.
