Greater Hopes first supported us in 2017–2018 when we were newly married and exploring adoption. After years of completing our degrees, building our careers, and walking through multiple pregnancy losses, we found ourselves returning to the same calling that first sparked our hearts—adoption.

As we re‑entered the process in 2023, we researched several agencies, but the compassion, professionalism, and genuine care at Greater Hopes stood out just as strongly as it had years before. Their training, communication, and commitment to supporting all parties have only improved. Even during “close calls” and potential matches, we always felt informed, supported, and never pressured.

We later became licensed foster parents through another agency, which only deepened our appreciation for the integrity and dedication we experienced with Greater Hopes. Through every high and low, our faith and support network have carried us, and we trust the right placement will come in the right time.

Greater Hopes and staff have been so helpful to us over the years with our adoption journey. One of the things that drew us to the agency is the amount of support they provide for birth families and the ethical way they are structured. Their support did not end when our adoption was finalized, they continue to encourage us and our relationships with extended family. A year after our daughter was born, my husband had a traumatic work accident that left him in the hospital for months, Cathy went out of her way to help us and facilitated lodging so our daughter could come visit.
We appreciate the continued support groups and gatherings to connect with other families. Greater Hopes has been a blessing to our lives!

This is hands down the most UNETHICAL agency in the area. Please do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs. We lost over $16,000 at this agency and there are so many people who have suffered at their hands. Many families who go here are denied and lose their money. So many agencies disagree with the decisions this agency makes and approve families who are so often denied here. The positive reviews come from people with money who Cathy likes. They are the RARE cases. Please save your money and protect your heart and look elsewhere. We are happy parents due to a different agency. We got nothing but heartbreak from Greater Hopes.

We came to Greater Hopes based on a recommendation from our neighbor. I emailed Cathy very late on a holiday and she responded to answer my questions right away. We are so thankful we found this team to help us on our adoption journey! Our adopted children are now 4.5 years old and 18 months old, and we continue to feel incredibly supported by this team. Diana and Cathy have done a wonderful job helping us foster close, meaningful relationships with our children’s birth families. Their guidance has helped us build connections rooted in respect, openness, and love. Greater Hopes brings birth, adoptive, and waiting families together at community and learning events and provides necessary support for all families during and after the adoption process. We are so grateful for the ongoing care and dedication they show to every family they serve.

Been over 6 months since my daughter gave up her 18 month old. I don't sleep much anymore. They did a meet and great three times before placing my beautiful granddaughter. I have been struggling with how unethical this place is. They also gifted my daughter almost 5,000 after placing her. Also provide her with a place to stay because I was against the whole process. I was watching my grandbaby while my daughter worked and my daughter just comes in grabs her up and leave all because I didn't want the process to go down like it was. The trauma my grandbaby went through eats me up daily. The fact I will never see her beautiful face again eats me up. I bonded with her she wasn't a new born. Her uncle's bonded with her. They are young ages at the time 11 and 10. This isn't 100 the adoption agencies fault my daughter decided to give her away. But the way this adoption agency went about it. Was wrong. Kathy is so unprofessional. I can tell she absolutely Does not care about the well being of children or she wouldn't of went about this adoption the way she did. Also I thought there was standards like physicals you have to go through. I guess when you are paying 16000 to 25,000 per child the wave health checks. They adopters we're my age 40's, but unhealthy looking. How do I know this ? I ran into them by accident at a art museum/ garden in grand rapids. With my beautiful granddaughter waving at me. I couldn't do anything but cry. This place needs to be looked at. And I will forever be haunted with the loss of my grandbaby. I pray that Michigan sees through this place and does something about them. .......Forever a broken grandmother.... Found something online. I knew my beautiful granddaughter was going to be traumatized after what this adoption center did. Ripping her away from her loving family. You hurt a little girl Cathy for you personally gain. Did y'all know Cathy makes over 100,000 a year off this adoption place. Records are easy to find adding a new photo. Changing your name doesn't change what you did Sara. And Jake. You could of went though social services so many children need help. But you take one from a. Home. You bought my granddaughter.

Once a year I will update this until my beautiful granddaughter finds me. I love you gen. Grandma is saving a birthday for you every year. We share a birthday month. And a middle name I love you. I will never forget. I am sorry I couldn't share your beautiful moments with you.

My daughter didn't want to raise her daughter anymore. my granddaughter was 18 months old. I was there for my daughter every step of the way. I helped anyway I could diapers food babysitting so she could work. she lived with our family two young boys and my husband. We were a family. I had my daughter at 22 so I became a grandma at 41. I loved my granddaughter and my daughter. But grandparents do not have any rights. I was wanting my granddaughter to stay with us. Cathy convinced my daughter that adopting her out to strangers was the best thing for her. to rip her away from everything she knows. traumatizing her. you can't take a child from a home and place her with a strangers and think that she will be okay. Cathy needs some education on child development. my granddaughter is old enough to remember what happened to her because it happened to me when I was a child around her age it doesn't go away. this hit me so hard because I know what my poor grandbaby is feeling. I know what our family is going through there isn't a day that goes by that I am not hurting but I have to be strong because I have young children of my own to raise and they're devastated. this place ripped a the family that has my grandbaby is just as guilty because they know who I am and they blocked me I will not try to intervene with them because I don't want my Grant baby going through anymore that was she already has. but I do check in when I can on Facebook which they think they have me blocked but I can still see and they signed up for trauma classes of adopted children so my heart hurts so much for my baby because yes I might be her grandmother but I was there for her every step of the way and they ripped that baby from me why why did they traumatize my grandchild.

Greater Hopes has exceeded all expectations! They have truly helped us prepare for adoption through the questions they asked through the application process and have provided training opportunities to prepare in our time of waiting. We are so grateful for all they do!

When we were researching adoption agencies, Cathy was the only person that responded to all of my questions over email instead of making us come in for a meeting. Once we did decide to meet with the agency, they made it clear their number one concern was for the well-being of the children they serve and their compassion, honesty and kindness really drew us to them. Cathy and her team care so much about every person they work with and we couldn't be more thankful to have found them!2023-Edited to add that we now have a beautiful son and have been able to blend both our families together, through an open adoption facilitated by Greater Hopes. Cathy and Mya have made it clear they're always available to support us in any way they can and we're grateful. Highly recommend.
