Both Sensei Radu and Sensei Paul know their respective arts in an excellent fashion. They are about the individuals whom come and train and treat everyone as a valued part of the dojo community. I have really enjoyed my 4+ years training with them and the rest of the dojo family.

As a Judo student, I found this to be fantastic school with a true dedication to excellence through a traditional martial ethic. The instructors foster a community atmosphere where concern for your training partners' welfare and mutual growth are promoted as a foundation for subsequent personal advancement. Everyone that I have trained with at this school has a great appreciation for the beauty of these arts, and I can't speak highly enough of the programs that have been established here. I unfortunately had to leave for personal reasons, but I sincerely hope to practice here again in the future. Thank you Sensei Radu and Sensei Alex!

My son and I have both participated and are truly grateful for such an amazingly run program close to home. Small groups allow for great individual attention and they make it fun for the kids while teaching critical skills like listening and discipline.

Budo is more than just martial arts.I appreciate Greater Detroit Budojuku's vision for their genuine pursuit of Budo.Greater Detroit Budojuku gives me the opportunities and guidance to diligently try to refine myself through Budo.Their priority and focus are on their students' growth and development, and they go the extra mile to support us for our progress and improvements.Best of all, Mr. Maeda, Mrs. Maeda, and Mr. Simion are genuinely great people. They treat us with sincerity and empathy, and teach us Budo with great patience and passion.I have known Mr. Maeda for over 20 years; however, I never knew that he is such a martial art expert that he is until I joined Greater Detroit Budojuku, because he is humble with a gentle demeanor as a genuine Budoka is.

Excellent school! I am learning Aikido at the school and my sons are learning judo. Maeda-sensei for Aikido and both Radu and his son Alex teaching Judo are excellent and professional instructors. They have created an inclusive atmosphere where you feel welcomed and challenged at the same time. I highly recommend the Greater Detroit Budojuku for anyone looking to learn Aikido or Judo.

I highly recommend Greater Detroit Budojuku! My son started Judo here as his first martial art experience, and he has learned so much in a short amount of time. He truly enjoys coming to class and training with the senseis and the other kids. If you're looking for a dojo that is professional and welcoming of all experience levels, look no further!

It is authentic traditional Japanese Aikido dojo. I practice with Maeda-Sensei for 3 years at Greater Detroit area and he is very skillful and kind explanation for all. You can learn in English and Japanese both not only skill but also traditional mind.(In Japanese)It is a traditional Aikido dojo that is comparable to Japan. Aikikai Headquarters Dojo Seki Shihan's techniques are real, and they are carefully taught according to the level from beginner to advanced. Unfortunately, I have to return to Japan, but I would like to recommend it to those who have been doing Aikido, those who are just starting, and those who are interested.

I highly recommend this Aikido dojo for both beginners and skilled people.(In Japanese)I used to practice Aikido when I was in college, but after a break of about 20 years, I found this dojo on the One World bulletin board and went to see it. It seemed like the dojo had only been open for a short time due to the influence of the coronavirus, but I decided to stay there without hesitation due to the teacher's careful guidance and the good atmosphere of the dojo. Mr. and Mrs. Maeda are very friendly people, and the atmosphere among the participants is very good. Local students can be taught in English, and native Japanese speakers can be taught in Japanese. Aikido performed on tatami is truly special. The inside of the dojo is kept clean. There are separate changing rooms for men and women. Not only those with experience but also those who have never tried Aikido will have no problems at this dojo! I myself was very sad to leave after deciding to return to Japan, but I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Aikido. People who live near Novi may have the impression that it is far away at first glance, but once you get used to it, the distance and time required to commute is not a problem.
