We have used Maritime for a long time. In 2020 we started to experience issues with our corp tax filings being filed late. We reached out to the owner Curt multiple times during this time with no response or call back. We decided at that time we needed to move accounting firms. We then received multiple notices from both the IRS and the state of Michigan stating we owed back interest and penalties for the taxes during the first quarter of 2020 being filed late. We reached out to Maritime for assistance and have been told that we needed to file for a copy of our transcripts which we did per their instructions. I asked why I had to do this since they were the accounting firm that filed the taxes via online. I was told by Richard that they can't help us without the transcripts. I asked why and no response. I have since then sent them multiple emails with no response from Richard nor the owner Curt. When I hired my new accounting firm they went through the last few years and found multiple mistakes that Maritime had done. I had over 2K in penalties and fees that I paid and did not receive anything from Maritime. In my opinion they are not a trust worthy or a reliable accounting firm.

I have experienced poor and rude communication with them when they are asked reasonable questions by their clients. Otherwise, as accountants, I have not had any problems with my taxes that they have done. I would trust them with that again. Although, I prefer to go elsewhere where there is more respectable customer service since it is a service I am paying for.

We have used them a few years & was very happy. This year we filed early February. Hadn't hear anything about 4 weeks later. Called them and they told me they were accepted on the 20th. That is was now between me and the Irs. So I kept calling IRS. Finally got thru April 20th. They have not received them. Called tax people back. They said they had no confirmation this time. We had words. Her answer was "well I am telling you the truth now." Wow!!! Won't be back!!!

I had a terrible experience with Maritime. Unfortunately this experience cost me and my wife $650 in IRS penalties. Their slow response and poor customer service permeated all of the follow up that I attempted. I will not be a returning customer.
