In July 2023 my neighbor and I hired Chris to repair fencing. He took a $2200 deposit and committed to start on Aug 1. Citing he'd been in an accident he pushed the date out a few times. By mid August we communicated we could no longer wait and would like a refund on the deposit. I had to text, call and reach out via social media to him and he returned only $1000 of it. I filed a police report and he told the police he spent the money but intended to pay it back. Fast forward 10 months later, to May of 2024 and he has not repaid the $1200 balance he owes us despite numerous attempts.

Hired Chris on the spot because the price was right and he said he could start in a couple of days. A month later I was still waiting on the emailed quote and had to keep asking if he was going to start the job. I said no to other contractors because I kept thinking Chris would complete the work. I guess shame on me for thinking someone is going to do what they say they will...
