When I retired, I decided that since I had all of this unclaimed time I could start figuring out my own federal and state taxes. I did the forms for three years. But, I had forgotten, after having had DFI do our taxes every year for decades, that convoluted tax instructions involving mathematics and I have never been on good speaking terms. So my mother, who has her taxes done at DFI as well, said, and I quote her, "Seriously. You're an idiot. Go back to DFI." So I did. And DFI, looking at the federal and state tax documents I had filed for the three years, as well as this past year's, found more than $7000 that we were due but I had completely overlooked. Love this place. They always do their best to get you the most back. We've been with them for about 10 years. Before that we alway went to a very popular tax preperation service. The first year we were with them they told us to bring in our taxes from the year before and they would amend them.(redo it) They got us back another $1200. Very nice people,promt service.
