Lopez sensei is a patient, kind and disciplined sensei! I did not expect to find such dedication to karate far from home in Japan, which gives me even greater respect and appreciation for him and the dojo. It has been almost 4 years since he began taking lessons here. Kata(form) is always his favorite. He enjoys leaning new movements and sequence. Sensei also makes each class engaging by ending with some fun games allowing the kids to finish every lesson with big smiles on their faces. I've seen tremendous growth in his focus and confidence over the years thanks to Karate Wadokai! Arigato sensei!
If your child is interested in competition and already working toward it, this is a great place to practice forms (Kata). Progress doesn’t happen overnight—it takes time, patience, and consistent effort. As parents, keeping our children on the right track is our top priority.
Learning from Sensei Mauricio Lopez, practicing under WKF rules, and following proper techniques makes a big difference. Personally, as a parent, I hope that in the next 5 to 10 years my son will grow into a shining star in forms.
Also, Sensei Lopez and Roxy are very kind and caring people. They give focused attention to the kids, especially when they need extra help.
