“I have patronized this salon for many years. Its location is a bit off the beaten path, making it somewhat a hidden gem. I have never left the establishment disappointed. You get more than what you pay for.“

“Now that we've landed in Negaunee and unpacked most of the boxes, it's well past time to get into a new routine. I had seen Grand Effex salon on my frequent visits to town and I figured I'd keep it local. I phoned in and got an appointment pretty quickly (given the holiday weekend, that was a great surprise). The salon itself is much bigger on the inside, so don't let the front view fool ya. There are a few stations and a cozy waiting area, plus a front counter to check in and/or pay at the end. The salon takes cash and cards (via Square; love-love-love!). The cost for services is so reasonable that I finally feel as if I can afford to branch out and consider some color work. I came in and met Kim Black, another former Minnesota resident. We talked about everything from our cats and our husbands, to neighborhood things and events. Admittedly I didn't bring her much, since I chopped off a lot of hair before the move. Undeterred, Kim knew that I wanted a great shape to regain some length AND I hoped to find my curls again; a tall order, to be sure. SHE TOTALLY DID IT! My hairstyle looks so much nicer, even when I have 'hat hair' (or 'toque hair' for those of us in the U.P.). If I spend a few moments with styling product, the curls definitely come out to play. I'm beyond thrilled and, if I wasn't trying to grow out my lengths, I'd come to see Kim VERY regularly. As it is, I will be back; just let me get a little shaggy first.“

“I stopped in while on a sales trip. Yelp reviews were overall positive, and I figured what the heck, it's just breakfast anyway. Sherri's is a local's joint, but not the kind of local's local joint where the record stops when you walk through the door. Friendly faces greet you with a warm smile. A slight din is ever present, as I'm almost certain the entire town comes to Sherri's for breakfast, talking about the weather, news, last night's game; whatever. The menu was full of the standard diner-delights, eggs, pancakes, burgers, sandwiches, but I happened across something called "potato sausage;" an apparent local favorite. So that's what I ordered. It's basically ground up potatoes with spices and stuffed into a sausage casing. It was really good. The texture was strange at first, but the rest was absolute deliciousness! Sherri's is clean, friendly, with a full diner menu. I'm sure there is something for everyone there. If you happen to be traveling across Michigan's UP, and are looking for a place to stop, Sherri's is a great option.“

“The ladies at cameo our friendly professionals that know what they're doing. The service on my hair was outstanding quite knowledgeable with hair color. Karli is a sweet young lady with lots going for her, she's very knowledgeable and confident about what she wants to do with her hair color and I had a troublesome corrective hair color and she hit it right on the head( LOL head). I walked away feeling pampered .And her Shellac nails looked great (I'm a nail tech 35+ yrs). Again Karli is an excellent technician.“
