I took my teenage nephew—with his long hair—for a haircut with Ashlee at Shear Madness after hearing multiple recommendations that she’s the best with longer styles. I’m so glad we listened. Ashlee was absolutely fantastic. She made my nephew feel completely at ease from start to finish—there wasn’t a single awkward moment. He felt so comfortable with her that he told me afterward he only wants to see Ashlee for future haircuts.

I drove up from Columbus Ohio to have my hair done by Leslie and so happy I only have to drive from Southfield now. Finding a great hairdresser is harder than trying to find a good doctor, so when you do you drive when have to. Another customer even flies in to visit family but I know it really the hairdresser she comes to see. I have followed my hairdresser from shop to shop over the years. If you are male just ask your female partner if she would save you or her favorite hairdresser. On SECOND THOUGHT don't since you might not like the answer. Why the loyalty? For me it is the care for my long hair. I have too many others that didn't LISTEN when I said DON'T cut the length and had 4-6 inches of hair come up missing. I am also mixed race so my hair is different and need some one that understands what it does. Being in my late 50s, you just can't abuse the hair and have it stay good looking. The care and service I get is wonderful. I also love that I am supporting a small business not a corporate chain that pays their hairdressers just above minium wage and cuts their hours if they don't upsell the customer with hair products or more services than they need. Share holders and COs are not getting rich from my hair dollars. This is how I demand justice for the little guy. Appointments are recommend since Fridays and Saturdays get booked. The price is more than fair and either in line with the chains or even better. Since the shop is a little east of Monroe nearer to Lake Erie, I have never seen a waiting room full with walk ins so most customers call ahead. I have never had trouble getting an appointment, but Leslie and Ashley keeps it busy with regulars and new customers.
